More Than "Just Words"

Zen: Hermit, Monk, Enlightened

In this time when everyone (well except my Boy-friend Andrew) is attainable at any moment, all the time, there comes a time when it can become just to much. There comes a time when we all just need a break, but what type of break can reduce stress in such a connected world? Well I have come across the idea of engaging in a stress free Zen day. Once a month you go through a day where you engage in a three step process: The Hermit, The Monk, and The Enlightened.

Step One, The Hermit:

First you cut yourself off from the world. Turn off your cell, your land-line, you computer, and any other form of communication to the outside world. Become a Hermit. Oh, and that means no visitors. Cutting yourself off from the world gives you some time to take a breather form your crazy lifestyle. Thus, you become a true Hermit.

Step Two, The Monk:

Take sometime to sit in silence, and meditate. Listen to your heartbeat, count your breaths, relax. Its the best thing for you because as you sit in silence your stresses become less important. Become a Monk.

Step Three, The Enlightened:

Lastly, observe the world around you, the simplicity, the complexity. Sketch pictures of nature. Keep a journal describing what you see, what you observe, what you feel. Looking at the world around, and taking a moment to see beyond you will give you a new sense of calm because you see that there is much more to the world than your own stress, and that life goes on. Become Enlightened.

Remember, don’t do anything rash. If you NEED to be in contact with the world DON’T shut yourself off especially if you have medical problems.

Also, you don’t have to do everything exactly as I wrote. Whatever you feel like doing, just take a Zen day, committed to NO STRESS!

Marie Claire Magazine!

Ok, so the other day I got my Marie Claire Magazine that I subscribed to in the mail. I had been looking for a woman’s interest magazine that wasn’t JUST about fashion.(yeah, I like fashion, but come now I don’t have $2000.00 to spend on a stupid green hat that looks like a radioactive rat died on your head. Not to say I don’t like some high fashion, but come on!) So, I checked out Marie Claire.

Its pages are filled with stories and articles that relate to real women, not the upper class society and fashonisties, while still providing the beautiful images of high fashion that inspire the every-day wardrobe. Gracing the gloss covered words of the July 2009 issues was a beautiful piece on “50 Reasons We Love America”. In this time of economic down turn, and unpleasant happenings it was refreshing to see a positive look on our beautiful country. Because the truth is, we live in a beautiful country, and there is no place on this earth as amazing as America.

I would defiantly recommend this magazine for anyone who wants an uplifting magazine, delivering important information that is both entertaining and informative.

Bad Things Come In Threes

So you might have heard the expression that bad things come in threes, well I think my three is up because it seems like things are turning around for the better. Being a sufferer of Crohn’s can make some periods in my life bleak, but one thing I have learned sense my diagnosis on Feb. 14 2003 is that attitude is everything. Life troughs us challenges every day, and some of those challenges can feel like a crushing weight that can’t be overcome alone. But the truth is, no one in this world is truly alone. There are places where anyone can go and be accepted and loved. There are family’s, blood relations or not, that are there for you. This world is a loving place full of many different people who are willing to love.

Bernice Johnson Reagon said “Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.”(Yahoo Answers) In difficult times it is hard to remember that we are not alone. All the loving people in my are what get me through these hard times I am going through. I have a great doctor who is always there for me. I have a great best-friend who I a so glad has come back into my life, and truly cares about me. I have a loving family who is always there for me and cares for me when I can not care for myself. I have a boy-friend who helps me to be a better person and who supports and loves me deeply, and so many other people in my life who make the cross I bare a little lighter.

The light is comming back into my life, and it is thanks to the love and support everyone has given me. I want to say thank you. Thank you everyone for all that you have done for me, all the love you have given me, and all the support you have shown me. Crohn’s has shown me that I AM a strong person, and that I CAN do anything, but without all of you I might have broken before I had seen that. So, Thank you. All of you. Thank you.

FAFSA

Ok, I have a question. Does anyone else feel like government run programs, like FAFSA, are more hassle than there worth sometimes? Yeah, I know it is great to get help for school and I am glad that I am given assistance but it is such a hassle. It takes like months for anything to happen then when it does they say “Oh, well we still need a million more documents and you only have 14 days to get them to us.” It is very frustrating and stressful. Man, if universal health care is like this I will be doomed.

Aunt Heather’s New Baby

So, today at 2:45pm my Aunt Heather had a beautiful baby girl, with brown hair. I want to welcome Audrey in to this beautiful world. Recently my world has seemed very dark and full of nothing but pain. Crones is ruling my life, and I hate it, but today God has shown me that there is beauty even in the hardest and darkest times. Baby Audrey will be loved so much and given everything she could every want. One day when I have children of my own I know that they will be my guiding lite in the times that I feel helpless and alone. Welcome Baby Audrey. Welcome to this beautiful world full of love just for you. Welcome to the beginning of your amazing life, and welcome to this loving family.

So, yeah, I decided to get a blog, I don’t really know what it is going to be about. I will just write about what is going on in my life and like random things I am thinking about or issues I am thinking about. So I am sorry if it is kind of boring. We will see how it goes though, and if I can keep it up, lol. I seem to have trouble keeping up on things like this. You should see my diaries….like maybe a month is the longest I have ever gone with writing every day. Also if you have any ideas let me know, or suggestions. Ok, lets get this started.
